Big Brother 27 kicked off on July 10, 2025, with a major surprise: former winner Rachel Reilly returned to the house as a mystery houseguest.
Known for her unforgettable gameplay and fiery personality, Rachel last appeared as a contestant 14 years ago, winning Big Brother 13.
Her iconic entrance wouldn’t be complete without her trademark line: “Floaters, grab a life vest!”—which she delivered once again to the delight (and shock) of houseguests and fans alike.

On July 11, Rachel spoke exclusively with Gold Derby, opening up about her decision to rejoin the game. She explained that with her children now older, the timing felt right to return to the competition she once dominated.
“I was definitely nervous,” Rachel admitted. “But it’s exciting to have this opportunity again. I’m older, I’m a mom, and I bring a new perspective.”
While she acknowledged feeling some hesitation about entering a house filled mostly with younger contestants, Rachel made one thing clear: she’s in it to win. She anticipated a range of reactions from the cast — admiration, skepticism, even resentment — but believes she can turn those perceptions into strategic advantages.
A New Chapter, Same Competitive Fire
Rachel also reflected on how her life has changed since her first stint in the house. Her experience on other reality TV competitions — including a recent run on The Traitors — has only sharpened her skills in social and strategic gameplay.
“I’ve learned so much from playing alongside and watching other legends like Cirie Fields, Janelle Pierzina, and Britney Hayes,” she said. “This time, I want to apply those lessons in new ways.”
Although she wasn’t eligible to play in the first HoH competition — which was won by Vince Panaro — Rachel remains confident about upcoming challenges. She emphasized her love for competitions and her readiness to fight for power when the opportunity arises.
Facing the Mastermind Twist
This season, Big Brother introduced a new twist: the “Mastermind and Accomplice.” Rachel has remained tight-lipped about how she’ll approach the twist but hinted that her background in social strategy gives her an edge.
“I’ve been in a lot of game situations before. I know how to build alliances, adapt quickly, and deal with surprises,” she said.
