Zae Frederich’s time in the Big Brother 27 house may have been short-lived, but the season’s first evicted houseguest isn’t backing down from his decision to go after BB legend Rachel Reilly.
In his exit interview with Men’s Journal, Zae reflects on his bold move to target the season 13 winner so publicly in Week 1. “Honestly, no. I don’t think it changed my fate, really,” Zae says. “Rachel was going to keep Amy [Bingham] regardless… I think my coming out to Rachel publicly was probably my best move, honestly, for the situation.”
Zae explains his strategy was to make Rachel look like a bigger target than himself, in hopes of shifting the focus to Amy, someone he viewed as a key number for Rachel. “My goal was, ‘Hey, I’m not the threat here. Look at Rachel — she’s the threat,” he says. “Amy’s working with her. We need to take out Amy so that we can take out Rachel.’”
Butthat plan didn’t work. Zae was evicted by a vote of 9–5, including a surprising betrayal from Rylie Jeffries, someone he thought was one of his closest allies. “Rylie,” Zae says when asked which vote shocked him the most. “He told me he wanted to be the final two with me… I trusted [him] the most, and so it was surprising to hear that he had voted to evict me.”
