Big Brother Season 28 (BB28) is still a few months away, but former houseguests and the Big Brother community have something to decode after Julie Chen Moonves’ post recently.
The longtime host of the CBS reality competition sparked speculation on March 17 after sharing a cryptic Instagram post that immediately caught the attention of the “Big Brother” community.
In the photo, Chen Moonves poses beside a pool table while holding up a maroon 7 ball, smiling at the camera with a cue stick in her other hand. Her caption was short but intriguing: “7️⃣7️⃣7️⃣ 🤗🍀”

While the clover emoji could easily be interpreted as a nod to St. Patrick’s Day, many fans—and even former houseguests—weren’t convinced the post was that simple.
Instead, the comment section quickly filled with theories about what the mysterious string of sevens might mean for the future of the long-running reality series, entering its 28th season.
Several members of the “Big Brother” alumni community jumped into the conversation, offering their own guesses about what Chen Moonves might be teasing, if anything at all.
“Big Brother” legend and season 12 and 14 houseguest Britney Haynes shared one of the most detailed theories, writing: “7 bb returners, 7 newbs, 7 former survivor or racers 7️⃣7️⃣7️⃣ also call me I have endless good ideas.”
Meanwhile, Jimmy Heagerty, who appeared on season 21, suggested the emoji sequence might hint at a theme for the next installment of the show.
“Omg 👀 #bb28 = Casino themed??” he wrote.
Other alumni chimed in with their own reactions as the theories continued to spread.
Season 21’s Kat Dunn guessed the number might signal the return of veteran competitors, commenting simply: “7 returning players.”
Two-time “Big Brother” runner-up Paul Abrahamian left a pair of eye emojis—”👀”—while Jozea Flores joked about the possibility of another shot in the house.
“I hope it’s a redemption season..let me pack my bag 🧳✈️👀😂,” the self-proclaimed “Messiah” wrote in a comment.
Fans also began connecting the number seven to the show’s history. Some pointed out that “Big Brother” 7 was the franchise’s first all-star season, leading to speculation that season 28 could feature a similar format.
Others floated a simpler explanation: The post might be hinting at a July 7 premiere date for the upcoming season.
For now, though, Chen Moonves hasn’t clarified the meaning behind the cryptic caption, and there is no official news on the release date for BB28. There is a report from CBS 13 that the network is currently holding open casting calls for potential houseguests.
