The long wait is over, CBS has released the Big Brother 28 schedule, revealing when new BB28 shows will air this summer for the new season!
According to a joint announcement from CBS and longtime host Julie Chen Moonves, “Big Brother” Season 28 will premiere Thursday, July 9th, 2026 (we assume at 8:00pm ET) on CBS.
Big Brother 28 will start with a Thursday night 90-minute premiere, and then the very next night will be the return of Big Brother Unlocked! No word yet on who will be hosting that sideshow just yet so probably safe to expect Taylor and Derrick again this year. Along with the Thursday night premiere and the Friday night Unlocked, the next episode of Big Brother 28 will be the following Sunday with another 90-minute show. After that, it’ll be 90-minute Wednesday episodes, then 60-minute shows on Thursdays and Sundays.
‘Big Brother: Unlocked’ Returns With a Twist
Now for the spicier update: the companion series “Big Brother: Unlocked” is officially coming back.
The series first launched during Season 27, and according to Variety, it will return alongside Season 28 with a few noticeable upgrades. CBS confirmed the format will continue offering “exclusive footage from inside the house, extended interviews, surprise guest appearances and behind-the-scenes access.”
But this time, there’s a new layer: “Big Brother: Unlocked” will “feature a live studio audience, bringing fans directly into the action.”
That’s a pretty big shift in energy. A live audience means reactions, gasps, cheers… the whole vibe starts to feel a little closer to a game show-meets-reality hybrid. It also feels like CBS is doubling down on fan engagement in a way that makes the experience feel less like watching from the outside and more like being part of the chaos.
As for whether former hosts (and fan-favorites), Taylor Hale and Derrick Levasseur, will return? Nothing is confirmed yet. So for now, it’s still a wait-and-see situation.
